I got busy this morning and finished my collaborative journal. I was going to take pictures of the process, but I got so into making it that I forgot. I used Daydreaming on Paper's instructions for stitching. The actual stitching went really quickly. I should have done it a bit tighter in spots, but for a first attempt I'm pleased with it. Posted by Picasa

Dawn,
I love your journal. Using found paper is a great idea. When I make journals, I usually use a colored thread. I think it adds a nice touch to a handmade book. Afterall you don't want it to look like it was made in a factory, right? I have found some great paper that I want to use for a cover...but your idea of using a book cover from a book is something I had never thought of. I might have to try that on my next one.
Thanks for sharing your ideas.
Julie

Hi Dawn-- I really like the way this turned out. I have been looking at used books at the library and thinking about trying my hand at doing this, so I am glad to see your results.

I think this is a great idea. I deal in antiques and vintage stuff and I have a lot of books with awesome covers, but the insides are in bad shape...this could be a great way to use them! Your book turned out really nice!
